Swinhoe’s Egret and Black-tailed Gull Habitat

The breeding place of Shindo Swinhoe’s egret and black-tailed gull is a small rock island located along the west coast, approximately 20.5km from Jangbong-ri Ongjin-gun Gyeonggi-do. Swinhoe’s egrets breed in approximately a 200-m range from the slope along the north and south, to the top. The nest is usually made by loosely weaving dry virgate wormwood. It usually lays 3 -5 eggs. Black-tailed gulls breed on the slope of the island or the cliff. Some flocks breed near the top along with Swinhoe’s egrets. They build nests on reefs, wood or places with scattered wood and grass. The breeding place of the rare summer migratory Shindo Swinhoe’s egret and black-tailed gull is the largest virgate wormwood’s breeding place. Thus, it is designated and preserved as a natural monument.

Jinchon-ri Shell Mound

Jinchon-ri Shell Mound of Baengnyeong-myeon is a pre-historic ruin. It is located 10m below the field embankment of the hill in Jinchon-ri coast, 500m Northeast of Baengnyeong-myeon Branch Office. 이 This shell mound was reported by the Seoul National University’s scientific research team in 1958. Judging from pieces of chipped stone tools collected from the lower shell deposit, we can assume stone age people used to live there. The shell deposit consists of shells of oyster and blue mussel. Pieces of ceramic wares and clay wares are scattered nearby the shell mound.
